Bristol University's Department of Drama has just released its 2005 programme of short courses in Drama and Film under the banner of Spring Mischief.
Bristol University’s Department of Drama has just released its 2005 programme of short courses in Drama and Film under the banner of Spring Mischief. These ever-popular, practical and affordable classes are open to everyone and provide an ideal opportunity to try your hand at something new. The programme covers all aspects of drama, and offers over 50 courses ranging from performing, voice and creative writing, to directing, film-making and design.
By arrangement with the International Workshop Festival, Bristol is hosting weekend and day schools with some luminaries of the performing world. Legendary comic Stan Stennet will tickle your funny bone and Ivan Cartwright (aka Candy Floss) will unveil How to be a drag queen. The energetic can try Can Can Moulin Rouge style or Bollywood dance with Monisha Bharadwaj (recently featured in You magazine).
Budding writers can polish up their penmanship Adapting for the screen or spend three days learning the art of Writing for radio. Families can sign up for the All star family play day to work off the Easter chocolate rush and thespians can immerse themselves in the Theatre summer school over a bank holiday weekend.
All the courses are taught by working theatre professionals, and focus on developing the confidence and creativity of participants at all levels of experience.
Following on the success of the longer courses in screen studies and writing for performance, the department will be offering a Certificate in performance studies starting October 2005. This two year, part time course will allow those with daytime commitments the opportunity to deepen their understanding and experience of performance by working with both academics and practitioners.
